Hey friends! How was your week?
Mine was pretty intense as we’re cooking a lot of stuff at Specify for the coming weeks, and I absolutely wanted to keep my “at least 3 workouts per week” routine with at least 8 hours of sleep per night… Every day was quite challenging!
Here are today’s topics:
What I’m working on
Thoughts on listening to sounds while working
Tools I’m currently trying: Raycast Pro
Interesting works of the week
What I’m working on
I kept this week low in terms of workload each evening to make sure I got enough time to rest and be able to tackle my goals every day. So I only worked on some quick explorations and concepts for my vinyl collection page for my website.
2 years ago, I played with Discogs API and created a little script that collect all my vinyl collection data (see screenshot below). My collection grew over time, but this project has never been finished.
As mentioned in Pilcrow #13, I started to rework this project a few weeks ago and recreate a vinyl record in Figma from scratch. I’m almost done with it, and I’ll be able to work on the interface design of this page — I can’t wait!
Thoughts on listening to sounds while working
It’s 01:13 AM, and you’re at your desk with only a few apps open: your design and/or code editors, your browser listening to localhost, and your music service playing your favorite songs. The world around you grows quiet.
The music in your ears serves as the perfect soundtrack to your work. Each beat and melody pushes you forward, driving you to reach new heights of productivity. You feel unstoppable like nothing can stand in your way.
What was the last time you felt this kind of aura?
I remember each night when I decided not to go to bed but preferred to spend a few more hours on one of my projects. I used to think that these nights were decisive in my personal projects, the reality is probably different, but still. It felt so good. And each time, a specific order of songs was played to guide me through the night.
In the same way we spend a lot of time improving our work environments (our desks, monitors, keyboards, decorations, etc.), I think our ears deserve the same level of attention as our eyes, as they play a key role in our focus. I have some playlists and songs I like to listen to for each type of focus (morning laser focus, afternoon deep work sessions, late-night design/code experiments, you name it). I also like to listen to Endel from time to time, especially in the afternoon.
Tool(s) I’m currently trying: Raycast Pro
I recently upgraded to Raycast Pro, as I loved their AI features and wanted to support this incredible team and tool for all the time they saved me these last 2 years.
I’m still working on a custom Raycast Theme (yeap, it will have some yellow in it), but I love the ones they provide right after you make an upgrade.
Interesting works of the week
That’s all, friends — have a great Sunday! 🖤
