Hey friends,
This week was pretty intense as it was the Specify Launch Week, with a lot of communications to make and assets to prepare, as well as making sure each announcement was going smoothly. But here we are, now I can enjoy some days off and recover.
Here are today’s topics:
What I’m working on
Thoughts on (re)experiencing art pieces
Tool(s) I’m currently trying
Interesting works of the week
What I’m working on
I wanted to keep with the current flow I had last weekend about learning new techniques of modeling and rendering in Cinema 4D, so I watched a bunch of tutorials on YouTube:
As mentioned in Pilcrow #16, it’s quite refreshing to pick a discipline/topic I explored years ago and re-started where I left off, see all the possibilities made possible, and the new trends that emerged.
Thoughts on rewatching TV shows/movies and relistening to music albums
Great pieces of art create something in you that you can’t really describe, something that makes you think through another perspective or help you understand a unique situation you encountered. Art creates, transforms, and asks questions.
Let’s take my example: I’ve watched House of Cards and Fight Club 5 times, The Social Network 4 times — yes I’m a big fan of David Fincher’s work, Mr. Robot 4 times, countless times albums from Mobb Deep, ScHoolboy Q, Nekfeu, Alpha Wann, Sopico, The Black Keys, and a few others.
There is something about each of these pieces of art, the music, the characters, and their stories that are able to put me in a very specific mood, sometimes unconsciously, sometimes I’ll be picking voluntary these kinds of triggers. Like everyone with time, I rediscover some scenes, dialogs, or rhymes — and I think this is also how you can make a distinction between good and great pieces of art.
Tool(s) I’m currently trying
I just registered to Grids, a new kind of « links aggregator », designed for creators, artists, makers, etc. I already have a Bento account, and I loved the visual approach they took, but I’m interested in seeing how Grids will tackle this topic.
Interesting works of the week
That’s all, friends — have a great Sunday! 🖤
